Dr. Nath is the Medical Director of Long Island Surgery and the Long Island Vein Center. He has been in practice for 15 years, and specializes in general, trauma, and vascular surgery. Dr. Nath is a recognized leader in the Long Island medical community, serving as Director of Trauma Surgery and President of the Medical Staff at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, and is a member and past president (2010-2011 term) of the Suffolk County Medical Society. He has also been elected as President of the medical staff at St. Catherine's Hospital.
Following completion of his medical degree from Stanley Medical College, University of Madras, India, Dr. Nath completed residencies in general surgery in India and Jamaica, serving as senior resident in his final year in Jamaica. He then further enhanced his skills in the United States, completing a residency in general surgery at Nassau County Medical Center, an affiliate of Stony Brook University, and a fellowship in vascular surgery at St. Francis Heart Center, an affiliate of Columbia University.
Dr. Arumugam specializes in general and bariatric surgery at Long Island Surgery. He has over 13 years of surgical experience, and is currently serving as the Acting Chief of Bariatric Surgery at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. Following completion of his medical degree at Sri Ramachandra College and Research Institute, India, Dr. Arumugam served as senior intern in Emergency and Trauma Services and the Department of Surgery at Sri Ramachandra Hospital and served as a research officer in epidemiology and experimental medicine.
He then completed his residency in general surgery in Westchester, NY, serving as chief resident in his final year. Following his residency, Dr. Arumugam completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Westchester Medical Center. He is a member of the Suffolk County Medical Society, the American College of Surgeons, and the International Clinical Epidemiology Network.
Dr. Gerold specializes in general and head and neck surgery at Long Island Surgery. He has over 25 years of surgical experience, and joined our practice after spending several years in Pennsylvania. Following his undergraduate education at Harvard University, Dr. Gerold completed his M.B.A. at the Wharton Graduate School of Business Administration and earned his medical degree from New York Medical College.
He completed his residency in general surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and fellowship in head and neck oncologic surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is an instructor of advanced trauma life support, and completed additional training in microvascular surgery at Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, NY. He is a past director of Head and Neck and General Surgery at Nassau University Medical Center, and served as associate program director of the general surgery residency program at Nassau University Medical Center. Dr. Gerold is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Suffolk County Medical Society, and the American Head and Neck Society.
Dr. Ilkhani specializes in vascular and vein procedures at Long Island Surgery. He has over 35 years of surgical experience. Following completion of his medical degree at the University of Tehran, Iran, Dr. Ilkhani completed a residency in cardiovascular surgery at the Tehran Heart Hospital and general surgical residency at the New York Methodist Hospital of Brooklyn. He then completed a fellowship in cardiovascular surgery at the Texas Heart Institute.
Dr. Ilkhani has served as the chief of vascular surgery at New York Methodist Hospital, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. He initiated and created vascular labs at New York Methodist Hospital, Metropolitan Hospital, Woodhull Medical Center and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Ilkhani is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Denton A. Cooley Cardiovascular Surgical Society, International Society for Endovascular Surgeons, Brooklyn Surgical Society, International Society of Vascular Surgery and Society of Vascular Technology.
Dr. Makartchuk specializes in general surgery at Long Island Surgery. He has over 15 years of surgical experience. Following completion of his medical degree at the Academy of Medicine, Ukraine, Dr. Makartchuk spent the next 12 years as a general surgeon and training interns and residents. Dr. Makartchuk continued his education at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completing a residency in general surgery at Wyckoff Hospital in Brooklyn, NY and Peninsula Hospital in Far Rockaway, NY, serving as administrative chief resident in his final year.
He is a member of the Suffolk County Medical Society, American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, New York State Osteopathic Medical Society, and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Hunjan is a board certified surgeon who specializes in general and bariatric surgery with a special interest in laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery and has over 14 years of surgical experience. He received a Master of Surgery degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India. He continued his education, obtaining a surgical degree and a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY, where he also served as chief resident.
Dr. Hunjan is a member of Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, Association of Surgeons of India.
